Hello 2016! I embraced the challenges and accepted the opportunities of 2015, but I know this is going to be a good year. How can it not be, when the last days of 2015 were spent in a place as beautiful and paradisiacal as Madeira? I wanted to start this year on a fresh page, so I decided to commence another (hopefully!) wonderful year by saying goodbye, not only to Madeira but also to the past 12 months. There’s nothing I want to forget becaause every experience makes me stronger and more like the person I want to be every day, but if I have the opportunity to make new memories, ones that I’ll look back to with no regrets, I’ll make them. I’ll be sharing my New Year’s goals, not resolutions, soon to give you more insight into not just my style, but also the kind of person I am, and that I want to be.
My mom called this a ‘nun’ look, which made me skeptical about sharing it with all of you, but I thought there was something so minimalistic and ‘me’ about it. Another great reason to share this outfit with all of you? I don’t think I’ll be wearing anything this summer-appropriate for a while since it’s freezing here in Brussels! Recently, I’ve been buying a few more basic pieces to match more adventurous ones in my wardrobe, like this top from Zara, which I wore here in black. This top was such a life-saver during my vacation! I wore it for adventuring around the city, trips to surrounding sites, and even as a cover-up to go to the pool! I’m sure I’ll be wearing it so much more, but probably not with skirts, like the one I’m wearing here, anytime soon! To spice up this look, I accessorized with mostly rose-gold pieces like my aviator shades, watch, and jewelry. If you haven’t guessed yet, I’m slightly obsessed with rose-gold.
I would 100% replicate this look for fall/winter but with some pants, outerwear, and weather-appropriate shoes! And something else I would add would be a statement bag, in a rich burgundy, or camel shade.

I hope you’ve all had a great start to the new year! I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for me, and what it will be like blogging-wise. But I have a question for all of you! What would you like to see on Living in Plaid this year? More travel posts, outfits, personal posts, tutorials/DIY’s, how to style, lookbooks, the list is endless! Leave me your thoughts in the comments and I’ll be sure to try them! Lots of love, and happy new year!
