Saint Augustine said, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page,” and these very words are the ones that resonate inside my mind after every trip, or enriching adventure. But I think, that if all of my travels were a book, each trip would add another page to the ever-growing book that is my life. A work where each page is more colorful than the next, and places of beauty line each sheet. There are many pages awaiting to be filled, but for now I’m content in being able to ‘re-live’ my experiences through this blog, which has in a way become my virtual journal, and the endless amounts of pictures that I take when I travel. This trip to Madeira has filled my book with many more pages, which are filled with vivid shades of greens blues, and contain some of the most beautiful illustrations yet. A place of particular beautiful that I visited while in Madeira was the breathtaking Pico do Areiro, a place where clouds, a distant phenomenon, are so close you have the illusion of being embraced by them.
I don’t know how this outfit came to be, but some mismatched pieces ended up creating a look that I loved, and that somehow captured my mood of the day. Each piece makes a statement on its own, but combined they create something unique and unexpected. I have to say, that the piece that probably sparked my inspiration for this look was my ‘morral’, or backpack which I bought in one of the most beautiful places in all of Mexico, a mountain town called San Cristobal de las Casas. The white lace top I’m wearing here is the most simple piece, but it still makes a subtle statement of its own, incorporating a free-spirited, bohemian vibe. I also included my ultra-ripped jeans in this look as I thought they would add some cool to the look, and some new silver boots which brought some sparkle, and also made the outfit that much more interesting.
