In plaid we trust

I often get asked why I settled on the name ‘Living in Plaid’ for my blog, and though it’s something I will talk about in the future, I want to tell you the full story, not just a simple spur of the moment thought. It’s something that in my eyes deserves a post of its own because it’s not just a name. My story and who I am is in that name.

Winter tends to be a lot of the same fashion-wise. Chunky scarves, thick parkas and Ugg boots everywhere you look. But what I like to see in winter are shades of white, dresses, skirts, or shorts, and not just that feather or fur-trimmed coat that every other girl has, but something edgier. A chic leather jacket, an A-line overcoat, or something in an unexpected hue.

Today’s look is something I styled completely around this scarf. It’s such a bold and attention-seeking piece it seemed like the perfect basis for an outfit. What attracted me to this scarf when I saw it wasn’t just the plaid, but the surprise of turning it over and finding a houndstooth print on the other side. It’s also extremely cozy, and the perfect size to wear as a cape as I did in this post, or draped over me as I have here. Naturally, my staple leather jacket had to be a part of this look as it’s one, if not the most versatile piece I own! My Rebecca Minkoff mini M.A.C is also a ver well-loved piece in my wardrobe and one I wore here to mix up the shades in this outfit and to add a touch of sparkle which it incorporated with the gold hardware.

I hope you’re all doing well! Brussels has been on the highest terrorist alert for the past few days, with citizens being advised to stay away from large crowds, and many stores deciding to close. While this meant staying safe, and sheltered from the horrible Belgian weather, it also gave me some time to shoot looks back to back and have some images ready to post! With that thought in mind, I’d like to leave you all with a positive message,

“Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.”

XOXO, Sofia

Thank you Lauren! It’s getting better, thankfully. The proper name is tartan but somebody (probably in America)started calling the print plaid and it stuck so that’s what I say! Have a great day!
