Winter can feel constricting, confining one to the predictable items that are pants, jackets, and boots. But to me, winter is just a season, and one that doesn’t control what I wear. Of course, there are those freezing days where all I want to wear are thick coats and (don’t judge me) Ugg’s. Yes, I do wear Ugg’s every once in a while when I’m in the confines of my home and beyond the prying eyes of haters. Though they might be comfortable, they’re definitely not But an occasion like a dinner party calls for something different, and this is my twist on it.
When we think of winter fabrics the first that come to our minds are probably wool and leather, but a fabric that has become increasingly popular, mainly due to to the return of the 70’s, is suede. This mini skirt is currently one of my favorite wardrobe items because of its scalloped detailing and the suede material it is made from. I love the fact that it has a 70’s feel, without screaming “hippie”. I paired it with a black blouse, a more serious item but also a staple for formal or casual looks. And of course, some booties were necessary to keep the look playful and fresh.
