Once upon a curtain draw | Stratford upon Avon

Excitement, curiosity, and happiness. That is how I would describe my first night in Stratford. After a scrumptious dinner at Marlowe’s, it was the first occasion to view a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theater. On this particular night, The Merchant of Venice was on the program. In the production, the characters were dressed in a contemporary style, which I loved! There were Pharell Williams superstars, Nike’s, and bomber jackets galore! But there was a mixture as some characters were dressed more dapperly, and others more casually. There were some scenes which were absolutely hilarious, and others which were suspenseful or moving. When viewing a play at a theater, there is something magical that takes place. Once the curtain draws you are transported into another world, another era, and are intrigued by the characters, their dreams, their hopes, and their sorrows.

If any of you have ever been to the theater, then you’ll know that “to be or not to be” moment comes when you have to decide what to wear. During the trip I wore three different outfits to the theater, and this was the first. The most exciting, and my favorite part of the look was this dress which had a sheer mesh panel near the hem. This panel helped break up the silhouette of the dress and made it more youthful. To elevate this look a pair of sandals with gold hardware did the trick, and some accessories helped complete the look.
