The most stylish army ⎜HM x BALMAINATION

Olivier Rousteing, a fashion visionary and the creative genius behind Balmain recruited the créme de la créme of the fashion world to join his nation. Still missing a few cadets, he decided to expand his army by releasing a collaboration with global fast fashion chain H&M. But only the most willing, and patient could join Rousteing’s elite, luxurious army, for the collection sold out in mere hours (sometimes minutes!) and is now, unfortunately, only available on Ebay at, let’s say, slightly excessive prices. Being the crazy fashion addict I am, I knew of the collaboration as soon as it was announced and patiently waited the year previous to its release. The day the collection was launched, November 5th, I woke up ridiculously early to shop the collection online, only to find out that the section of the website dedicated to it would only be open at 10 AM. Of course, I panicked and had an internal meltdown. You’re probably thinking that like countless other girls and women, I was excluded from the Balmain x H&M army, but if you thought that, you would be wrong. If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ll know I was still able to get some pieces from the collection thanks to a very special person in my life.

I wore a matching co-ord from the collection in a very sporty-meets-chic way. The jacket with its paneling and silhouette screams ‘sporty’ to me! Something I would love to style it with would be a pair of sneakers and a very casual look. The skirt, however, is a whole other story. While it still uses the same monochromatic paneling as the jacket, the shape is completely contrary. It’s elegant, polished, and something I wouldn’t style with tennis shoes in a million years, but don’t quote me on that. Paired together they create something that’s refined yet sporty, almost like pairing an ultra-luxurious Balmain dress with a basic piece from H&M, almost. To not maintain the focus on the central pieces of this look, I wore a bralette under the jacket, and a simple, understated pair of black pumps. The great thing about co-ords, or matching sets, is that you can wear the pieces together, or mix and match them with other items in your wardrobe, which is exactly what I intend to do.

I hope you all enjoyed this look! I’ll be featuring these pieces in future posts, and sharing some tips on how to style them separately. Sending lots of stylish vibes your way!

XOXO, Sofia
